How do you make a tourbillon the least impressive thing about a tourbillon watch? Take a cue from Montblanc and finish every other detail like the Star Legacy Suspended Exo Tourbillon. It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Montblanc, but even by their standards this is something special.
Sure, the advanced tourbillon is a magnificent feat of horological expertise, but it’s everything that compliments the complication that makes this watch an SIHH highlight. The silver-plated, solid gold dial is stunning, with different forms of guilloche on the main dial and the house / minutes subdial contrasting with the modern, industrial look of visible screws.
The nature of the tourbillon of course puts it a rung or two above the rank and file of Montblanc’s surprisingly reasonable collection, but it’s nice to see it’s not just the movement they’ve invested in.
